Winner of NBC’s reality competition TV series SonglandMadeline Merlo kicks off 2023 with an emotionally-charged new song, “Same Car.” Co-written by Merlo with prolific No. 1 songwriters Sara Haze, Jason Saenz, Josh Osborne and producer Zach Crowell (Dustin Lynch, Sam Hunt), the award-winning songwriter of Lady A’s no. 1 hit “Champagne Night” flaunts sharp lyrics with her dynamic, powerhouse vocals. Thinking back to a painful memory, the song remembers what was and dials in on the sorrow and angst felt post-breakup.

“‘Same Car’ is a song that I have been excited to release since the day I wrote it,” says Merlo. “It’s a vulnerable and raw story about getting your heart broken in the same place you fell in love. As a young person – a car is often the setting for the range of emotions you experience as you go through a relationship with someone. This song explores that, and the production gives it a cinematic backdrop that, I hope, will take the audience on that journey with me.”
