Wesley Dean Sings of the Preciousness of Life on His Latest Track, “What Ifs And Whys”

When a moment in time passes us by, it is important to remember that we can never get these moments back. It is okay to live to remember, as long as we remember to live; paying less attention to where we’re headed, and more to where we are.

Since making the decision to relocate to Nashville from his native Australia 8 months ago, former Australian Idol winner Wes Carr (now simply known as Wesley Dean), released 9 singles, in a year dominated by uncertainty, fear, and tragedy for many of us.

With his first release of 2021 “What Ifs & Whys,” Wesley hopes to start a renaissance of art, culture, and life that will inspire a hope in a new year. “I hope that in some small way I’ve been able to encourage people to keep believing in themselves and in one and other and that together we will get through these difficult days.”

Wesley invites us all to take a ride on the soul train, as his whiskey-infused vocals offer an intimate and reflective take on the realities of life.

The song’s opening lyric “we might die tomorrow, so let’s make it last / hang on to this moment – raise a glass,” proves that we are here for a good time, not a long time. We must focus on the gift of today and cherish not only the breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.

In life we are greeted with thousands of hellos, but even more goodbyes. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. We must let the past be the past, by being present in the present. Do not dwell on what could have been or what was, but rather make room in your heart to feel what is.

A tale of pain, pleasure and everything in-between, Wesley leaves the decision up to us – what are you going to choose? In the words of Muhammad Ali, “don’t count the days, make the days count.” There are many things in life we take for granted, but we should never take life itself for granted.
