Singer-Songwriter Lori Triplett Releases EP “Slow Poison”

Small town Ohio native Lori Triplett has reaped the rewards of a golden ticket. The independent singer-songwriter worked her way into the musical realm of Nashville, TN, where she has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the best musicians and songwriters in the business.

Released today is Lori’s latest project Slow Poison. The six-song EP described as “a mixed bag of stories, sounds, and personal yet very relatable experiences that are likely to somehow fall right into place in your life.”

Upon the release of the record, we are introduced to two brand-new songs, title track “Slow Poison” and the self-reflective “Things I’ll Never Be.”

Written on borrowed chords and tired eyes, “Slow Poison” carries the weight of all that is wrong in the world day after day. From the hatred, the racism, the poverty, the division, the fighting, the arguing, and the lack of decency and compassion, we are all stuck in a revolving door Lori wishes humanity had never opened to begin with.

To find ourselves, we must first lose ourselves. “Things I’ll Never Be” recounts of a time in one’s life where they had put so much energy into trying to please one person, before ever taking care of themselves. “I’m finally thinking much clearer, it’s about time I get back to me,” sings Lori. Indicating that we must first learn to recognize our own self-worth and importance. Lori goes on, “I’m not just some knock at your door,” showing that one’s presence should never be taken for granted, because once someone is gone, they may be gone forever.

The record is an “invitation to make you think a little more and a little deeper about how you treat yourself and in turn, the way you treat others,” says Lori. “If we can’t find it in ourselves to be respectful and loving to each other, even when we don’t agree on everything, we are just slowly killing one another with hatred…a slow poison.

Lori’s wish is that this collection of songs brings an abundance of meaning, healing, hope, and love into your life. And for those who may feel as though they’re stuck knee-deep in life’s trenches, just know that with every rejection, every jaded reality, and every painful experience, comes an opportunity for change.

Lori has learned that in order to get to where you want to be in life, you must know who YOU are and what YOU want. “It takes a great deal of hard work, determination, and sacrifice, but it’s all worth it at the end of the day because it’s what I love to do, and what I was meant to do.”

So, put your best foot forward. Be kind to one other, but most importantly yourself, because if we can’t learn to love ourselves first, we will forever be walking through the revolving door of slow poison.
